Recycling Facility Fire Causes $100,000 in Damage
The fire broke out just before 4 a.m. Thursday in the Manassas area of Prince William County, fire and rescue officials said.

A fire at a recycling facility off Balls Ford Road caused about $100,000 in damage Thursday morning, Prince William County Fire and Rescue spokesperson Kim Hylander said.
It happened on the 7900 block of Notes Drive in the Manassas area of Prince William County.
The first units on the scene arrived just after 3:45 a.m. and saw a fire on one of the recycling processing units, officials said.

Even though two sprinkler heads helped suppress the blaze, it still took firefighters one hour to bring it under control.
Fire fighting was complicated because debris had to be separated and moved. Moreover, firefighters had limited access to the inside of the processing equipment making things even more challenging.

Crews stayed on the scene for about three hours.
A Prince William County Fire Marshal's Office investigator ruled the fire an accident caused by heat from mechanical components setting material on fire.
Preliminary estimates have the loss at about $100,000.
No injuries were reported.
