Scammer Poses as Worker for Electric Company
The scammer told a local business that their electricity would be turned off in two hours if they didn't pay $1,400.

A scammer tried to convince a victim at the El Quetzal Grill that he needed to immediately pay an enormous "overdue power bill," Manassas Park Police said.
The scammer demanded $1,400 payment and told the worker that his electric company would turn off electricity in two hours on Tuesday afternoon—which would be right in the middle of the dinner hour. When the victim questioned the scammer, he named the wrong electric company for the business.
The victim checked on his electric account at NOVEC, and found that it was a scam. NOVEC told the victim to report it to the police.
