Police Search for Armed McLean Bank Robber

Virginia Commerce Bank Held Up Monday Morning

Fairfax County Police are continuing their search for a lone gunman who robbed the Virginia Commerce Bank located where Chain Bridge Road forms a Y-intersection in downtown Monday morning.

A man entered the bank at 1356 Chain Bridge Rd. about 9:30am displayed a handgun and demanded money, police said. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

No one was injured. The bank was closed for the rest of the day.

 The robber was described as perhaps 35-40 years old,   6- 6-2 in height and weighing  between 220 -230 pounds. He was wearing a blue jacket , blue pants, and dark shoes. The lower portion of his face was covered by some type of cloth, police said.

Wachovia Bank at 1300 Chain Bridge Road was robbed by a lone gunman Nov. 24, 2010, the day before Thanksgiving.
