West Falls Church Project Meeting Co-Sponsored By McLean Association

MCLEAN, VA — The McLean Citizens Association and Dranesville District Supervisor John Foust are co-sponsoring an informational meeting on Nov. 15 about two rezoning applications related to the West Falls Church Metro Station development project.

This meeting will include presentations on the applications, an overview of the Fairfax County review process, and information on additional opportunities for input.

The public will be able to attend the meeting in person or remotely via Zoom.

The event, on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Longfellow Middle School at 2000 Westmoreland Street, will include an open house with information board about the project from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The meeting will take place from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The McLean Citizens Association said it is co-sponsoring the meeting so that the public can become better informed about the project and provide a forum for community input. The group said its co-sponsorship does not constitute an endorsement of the project.

Participants will have the opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions, and remote participants will be able to submit written questions or comments during the meeting. Prior to the meeting, there will be an open house with information boards about the project.

The Falls Church Gateway Partners-Metro Development application, by EYA, Hoffman and Associates and Rushmark Properties, proposes to rezone the 24-acre West Falls Church Metro Station on Haycock Road to a planned residential mixed use zoning district.

The proposed development would include up to 810 multifamily units, 90 townhomes, and a 110,000 square feet office building with up to 10,000 square feet of ground floor retail.

The other application, by HITT Contracting and Rushmark Properties, proposes to rezone the 7.5-acre Northern Virginia Center on Haycock Road to a planned residential mixed-use zoning district. The two-block mixed-use project consists of three buildings totaling 820,000 square feet of development and includes a six-floor office building that would serve as HITT Contracting’s corporate headquarters, a 440-unit residential building, and a 2,000 square foot one-story retail kiosk.

The office building would include the 40,000-square foot National Center for Smart Construction laboratory space to support Virginia Tech university’s mission as an academic and research institution.

The McLean Citizens Association said a Zoom link for remote participation will be provided one week before the meeting.
