Convenience Store Robbed at Gunpoint Saturday in Mount Vernon Area: Police

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- Police say the 7-Eleven store at 8629 Richmond Highway (see map below) was robbed at gunpoint early Saturday morning.

Police were called at around 6:20 a.m. An employee reported that a man came in the store and asked for cigarettes. When the employee turned, the suspect displayed a handgun and demanded cash, according to police. The victim gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect fled.

The suspect was described as black, with short black hair and wearing dark clothing. The victim did not require medical attention, police said.
