Oakton Seeking Volunteers for All-Night Grad Party

The Oakton High School principal sent the following letter to parents this week. The letter has not been edited.

Dear Oakton Parents/Guardian,

The organizers of Oakton High School’s All Night Graduation (ANG) Celebration are in desperate need of your help.  As of the writing of this letter, there is a serious shortage of parent volunteers – both senior and underclass – to set up, run, and pack up for the graduation finale.  We need your assistance!

This evening provides a venue for our seniors to conclude their four years at Oakton with their classmates in a safe, fun environment.  This can only happen if there are enough volunteers to run this event from 10:00 p.m., June 20, through 5:00 a.m., June 21.

The featured festivities include:
Casino – Graduates play various casino games to win ‘Cougar Bucks’ to purchase raffle
tickets for prizes.  Training is provided for volunteers.
Carnival – Graduates visit a Midway and play carnival games for prizes.
Laser tag, bungee pulls, various other games
Relaxation massage, caricature drawing, photo taking
Play Rock Band or Dance Dance Revolution

The planning committee has been hard at work planning this, but we need parent volunteers to make it run.  If you feel you can’t work the night of ANG, there are ways to help before and after.  If you have company, bring them along for a shift – they’ll have a great time.

Will you volunteer?  How can you sign up?  Go to signupgenius.com/go/ohsall.  The link is also on the PTSA website,oaktonhsptsa.org.  Vans and drivers are needed Friday, June 10, at 10:00 a.m. or 7:00 p.m.; and then again June 21.  Contact Sally Goins directly at goinssally@aol.com.

‘Patriot Packages’ are again available.  This is a fundraiser for the All Night Grad Celebration and includes four reserved graduation seats along with a gift.  Details are on the PTSA website.

Please volunteer and help make ANG a safe, memorable event.

Sincerely,

John Banbury
Principal
