Fred Priester, coach of the Oakton High girls basketball team, has received the National Federation of High Schools' 2010 Mideast Section Coach of the Year award. Priester is in his 17th year as coach of the Cougars and has led the team to 12 Concorde District Championships, four Region Championships and five trips to the state Final Four. This year, the Cougars are 14-1 and 3-0 in Concorde District play. Priester's record at Oakton is 385-62. His career wins stand at 515, thanks to the 130 wins he earned while coach of McLean High School.
The Mideast section includes Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
