ALEXANDRIA, VA — The autumnal equinox on Sunday, Sept. 22, signals the official arrival of fall, but the season is in full swing in the Alexandria area with everything from fall festivals and hayrides to corn mazes and other harvest events.

Sunny days and crisp evenings are perfect for outdoor fun. One can’t-miss event is the 29th Annual Art on the Avenue, a massive arts festival with hundreds of artists, as well as food vendors, children's activities and live music. The 29th Annual Art on the Avenue will take place on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. along Mount Vernon Ave. between Hume Ave. and Bellefonte Ave. in the Del Ray neighborhood.
