Alexandria General Election Early Voting To Open: What To Know
Virginia House seats, governor, sheriff, commonwealth's attorney and more are on the ballot for the Nov. 4 general election.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria voters will have Virginia House of Delegates, Virginia governor, Alexandria sheriff, commonwealth's attorney and other key races on the ballot on Nov. 4, 2025.
All City of Alexandria voters will have Virginia governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general as well as a Virginia House of Delegates seat, Alexandria sheriff and Alexandria commonwealth's attorney on the ballot.
Early voting will open on Friday, Sept. 19 and continue through Saturday, Nov. 1. On Election Day (Tuesday, Nov. 4), polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Voters should refer to the Alexandria Office of Voter Registration and Elections for the sample ballots in their precinct. To check your district and assigned precinct, use the Virginia Department of Elections citizen portal.

How to Vote Early
In-person early voting will run from Sept. 19 through Nov. 1. An accepted form of ID is required to vote in person in Virginia.

To vote by mail, voters can apply through the Virginia Department of Election website with information like their Virginia Driver’s License or DMV-issued ID card, Social Security number, date of birth, address and contact information. A paper application can also be completed and sent by mail (132 North Royal St., Suite 100, Alexandria, VA 22314), fax (703-746-4540) or scanned email attachment (VoteAbsentee@alexandriava.gov). The deadline to request a mail-in ballot is 5 p.m. on Oct. 24.
Once they receive the ballot in the mail, completed ballots can be returned by mail, at a 24/7 drop box outside the Office of Voter Registration and Elections (132 North Royal St., Suite 100), at an early voting site during voting hours, or at any polling place on Election Day from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. The deadline to return a mail ballot is 7 p.m. on Nov. 4. Mailed ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 4 and received by noon Friday on the Friday following the election.
How to Vote on Election Day
The deadline for voter registration or updating your information is Oct. 24. However, same-day registration is available in Virginia beyond the registration deadline, allowing voters to cast a provisional ballot. Check your registration status or register to vote through the Virginia Department of Elections citizen portal. Voters may also print and mail a paper voter registration application to the Office of Voter Registration and Elections, 132 North Royal St., Suite 100, Alexandria, VA 22314.
To vote on Election Day, head to your assigned polling place between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Use the Virginia Department of Elections citizen portal to find your polling place or the city's map of precincts. An acceptable form of ID is required to vote in person.
The Alexandria Office of Voter Registration and Elections says seniors and people with disabilities can vote curbside by calling 703-746-4050 ahead of their visit or upon arrival to the polling place. Election workers will assist at the polling place.
