Alexandria Assisted Living Resident Dies After Assault: Police
Police say a 72-year old man assaulted an 82-year old man at Sunrise of Alexandria on Duke Street.
ALEXANDRIA, VA -- The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a death at Sunrise of Alexandria, an assisted living facility at 3520 Duke St., that resulted from an assault in October, police announced Friday.
Police say the assault took place Oct. 24 at approximately 12:30 p.m., when the victim, 82, was physically assaulted by a 72 year-old man inside Sunrise of Alexandria. Police did not say if both men were residents at the facility or what prompted the assault.
The victim was transported to an area hospital and succumbed to his injuries two days later, on Wednesday, Oct. 26, according to police.

The victim has been identified as Hunter Alexander, 82, of Alexandria, police said.
No charges have been placed at this time, police said. The Alexandria Office of Commonwealth’s Attorney will be consulted regarding any potential charges.
