City Hall dates back to 1871, while Market Square on its grounds has been a civic gathering space since the city's 1749 founding. The city decided both facilities need significant updates to address aging building infrastructure, improve technology and accessibility, boost security and improve community engagement. As part of the project, the city will also renovate the Market Square Garage.
The project is currently in the design phase, with public feedback being gathered. The next pop-ups will be Saturday, Aug. 2, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Old Town Farmers Market and Sunday, Aug. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the West End Farmers Market. A public survey is open until Aug. 29.
