The pedestrian was transported to a hospital with serious injuries, which were later upgraded to non life-threatening, according to police. The 200 block of Pendleton Street is closed in both directions, police said. No word from police on the driver.

The Del Ray Business Association announced Tuesday that it will host a major fundraiser for the family of Rosemarie Cruz next Tuesday, Dec. 13. Cruz, who was hit by a car last Thursday and died over the weekend, was a wife and mother and an employee at Market2Market. Cruz, 49, passed away Sunday from injuries sustained after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Mt. Vernon Avenue at W. Glebe Road. An online fundraiser has raised almost $42,500 from 559 donors in five days. A 77-year old driver, who stayed on the scene, faces a Failed to Yield to Pedestrians charge, police said Monday.
