Man Charged With Malicious Wounding After Argument, Shooting

An Alexandria man was charged with malicious wounding after a shooting during an argument Saturday in Woodland Park, according to police.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — An Alexandria man has been charged with malicious wounding after a shooting during an argument Saturday in Woodland Park, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

The non-fatal shooting happened shortly after 8:10 a.m. in the 3100 block of Woodland Lane. Officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, a police news release said.

Detectives said the victim and suspect Danny Swithenbank, 64, of Alexandria, argued over the delivery of a portable storage container unit.

Swithenbank was taken into custody by police and also charged with use of a firearm in commission of a felony. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and was held on no bond.

Detectives executed a search warrant on his home and recovered several firearms.
