Alexandria Star Student Wrote Children's Book On Social Anxiety

An Alexandria student is using proceeds from her book to buy books for nonprofits, libraries and family shelters.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

She wrote a children’s book on helping children with social anxiety. She read it to groups of children at an elementary school, libraries and Girl Scout Troops. She collaborated with individuals to have the books translated into Spanish and German to reach a wider audience. All proceeds from her book “Chasing Butterflies” found on Amazon, go to purchasing books for non-profits. libraries and family shelters.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Her continual giving nature has touched many people in the hopes of making a difference in their lives.
