Alexandria Tree-Lighting Ceremony Set for Friday Evening

Free event in Market Square will include performances by the Alexandria Harmonizers and the Alexandria Choral Society.

Alexandria is hosting its annual tree-lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29 in Old Town’s Market Square (301 King St.).

Admission to the event is free and it will be held rain or shine.

Mayor Bill Euille and Mr. and Mrs. Claus will light the city’s tree and lead a community sing-along.

The event will also include performances by the Alexandria Harmonizers and the Alexandria Choral Society.

On-street parking restrictions will go unenforced Friday to accommodate holiday shoppers. The free King Street Trolley is also an option for those looking to attend the tree-lighting ceremony.

The Del Ray Business Association will host its tree-lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 in the farmers market lot at the corner of Mount Vernon and E. Oxford avenues.
