Alexandria's Old Town Pool Reopening Postponed As More Issues Found
The reopening was delayed after the city fixed additional filtration issues with one of its outdoor pools.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — After the city found more issues needing repairs at Old Town Pool, the reopening is being postponed.
The pool was originally intended to be closed from Tuesday to Thursday and reopen Friday. However, the city's Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities found more issues in the filtration tank during a Tuesday inspection and made repairs the same day. On Wednesday, staff installed new filter media and reassembled the system.
Filtration resumed on Thursday, and staff are working to "fine-tune the system to ensure it meets all health code requirements prior to reopening." The Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities said it wants the repairs to stabilize pool operations for the rest of the season.
