Around The World Cultural Food Festival Returns To Alexandria In 2023

The Around The World Cultural Food Festival will return for a third year to Alexandria's Oronoco Bay Park with food, vendors and dance.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Even as kids head back to school, the summer fun will carry on with the returning Around the World Cultural Food Festival.

The seventh annual festival is the DC region's largest outdoor cultural food festival. It will return for the third year in Alexandria's Oronoco Bay Bank on Saturday, Aug. 26 from 11 a.m .to 7 p.m. Admission is free, but there is a cost to purchase items from vendors. The event happens rain or shine.

One of the highlights is letting attendees try food from around the world. This year's event will feature food from Cambodia, China, Colombia, Greece, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Korea, Laos, Lebanon, Nepal, Peru, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam and the United States.

  • The Food Truck Rally (Ecuador)

Attendees will also be treated to traditional dance performances from Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Germany, Iran, Ireland, Japan, Panama, Scotland, Turkey and United Kingdom.

  • 11:15 a.m. - Ayliano's Ecuadorian Ethnic Folclore Group (Equador)
  • 12 p.m. - Raqs el Hob (Egypt, Iran, Turkey)
  • 12:45 p.m. - McGrath Morgan Academy of Irish Dance (Ireland)
  • 1:30 p.m. - Chin Daiko (Japan)
  • 2:15 p.m. - Grufolpawa (Panama)
  • 2:30 p.m. - Spotlight Academy (Indonesia)
  • 3 p.m. - Alexandria School of Highland Dance (Scotland, United Kingdom)
  • 3:45 p.m. -D'Potomactaler Stamm (Germany)
  • 4:45 p.m. - Global Expressions Through Dance (Brazil, Colombia, Egypt)
  • 5:30 p.m. - Vava United School of Samba (Brazil)
  • 6:15 p.m. - DJ (international music)

Vendors will sell artisan items representing Angola, Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Colombia, El Salvador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Turkey, United States and more.

Free street parking is available near the festival. Parking garage options include 300 N. Lee Street, 220 N. Union Street, 102 N. Union Street, 110-198 N. Fairfax Street, and 652 Wythe Street.
