As reported by the Alexandria Police Department on Facebook, the birthday girl — a resident of Seminary Hill — was celebrating the end of the A to Z Mysteries book series with a themed party. To bring the sleuthing to life, she invited a real police officer to attend. Neighborhood Resource Officer Ignacio not only showed up — he deputized all the party guests as Junior Police Officers, adding an extra layer of excitement and inspiration to the day. Her mom said having him there was “the highlight of the party.”
Officer Ignacio’s visit wasn’t just a fun surprise — it was a reflection of how first responders can help build lasting community bonds in small, meaningful ways. Neighborhood Resource Officers like Ignacio are part of the Alexandria Police Department’s efforts to make law enforcement more approachable, supportive and deeply involved in the lives of residents, especially the youngest ones.
