Breast Cancer-Surviving CEO To Appear At Old Town Books For Book Release
The leader of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation will discuss her new book at Old Town Books in Alexandria.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Paula Schneider, a breast cancer survivor and CEO of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, will appear at Old Town Books in Alexandria, according to book publisher Penguin Random House.
Schneider will be at Old Town Books at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3, one day after her children's book "Love Stays Strong" releases. Karin Purugganan, the owner and licensed professional counselor at Wonderologie in Alexandria, will join the "Navigating Tough Topics with Kids" discussion. Attendees are encouraged to reserve a seat.
The book centers around the story of a mother reassuring her child that their love will remain strong in spite of whatever the future brings. According to the publisher, Schneider's book draws from her personal experience with cancer and working with families impacted by illness. She seeks for the children's book to be a comforting resource for parents, caregivers, teachers and others facing difficult conversations with children. Illustration were done by Nicole Wong, whose family was also impacted by cancer.

"As a cancer survivor and through my work with Susan G. Komen, I witness firsthand how families are impacted by illness every day," said Schneider. "Through this story, I wanted to offer them a sense of love and comfort—and remind them they’re not alone."

Schneider leads the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, which has provided billions in investments in breast cancer research, advocacy and patient support. She is a mother of two daughters and lost her own mother to metastatic breast cancer. Net proceeds from the "Love Stays Strong" book sales will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
