ALEXANDRIA, VA — An investigation into a pop-up brothel followed the discovery of a man found dead in a vehicle in Alexandria, according to a media report.

The investigation started with a July 5 death investigation in the 500 block of N. West Street. According to NBC Washington, police found evidence of a sex worker using the alias of "Rosa Maria" had been at the Airbnb address and sent a message to the man.

Police have not publicly released the man's identity and cause of death.

Airbnb told NBC Washington that the person who booked the short-term rental in Alexandria can no longer access the platform.

ALX Now reported more in July on the woman's prostitution scheme at the Alexandria Airbnb listing. The woman, only identified as a 35-year-old from Manassas, faces a keeping a bawdy place charge. The news outlet said the woman has a listing on an escort website under another alias. According to the report, an undercover Alexandria cop's contact with the woman revealed she advertised sex for cash payments.
