Educated Eats Scholarship Program Launches

Students interested in pursuing a career in hospitality management, food service, or the culinary arts are encouraged to apply online.

From Educated Eats: Applications for the annual Frans Hagen Educated Eats Scholarship Program are being accepted now through Sunday, April 23. Students interested in pursuing a career in hospitality management, foodservice, or the culinary arts are encouraged to visit www.educatedeats.org to apply. Awards are available up to $5,000 for the 2017-2018 academic year and recipients will be announced in May.

The Educated Eats program serves to further develop the talented workforce that makes metropolitan Washington’s foodservice community thrive. Greg Casten, Chairman of the Board of Educated Eats said, “Our food industry is better than ever and we need talented, skilled young people to enter the workforce if we are to maintain that vitality.” The program’s mission is to cultivate and train those interested in opportunities in the foodservice industry and encourage them to work in the industry in the Washington, DC area.

The program is open to all who are interested in the field including high school students seeking a next step in their education as well as current cooks, servers, or managers working in the restaurant and hotel industry who have an interest in taking their professional development to the next level. Employers are encouraged to present the Educated Eats program to staff who are seeking to advance their skills as well.
