Narma Restaurant-Cafe-Bar recently opened at 682 North St. Asaph Street near Trader Joes, in the former home of Sundays in Saigon. It offers both authentic Turkish cuisine and more mainstream options such as steaks and seafood; on a recent dinner visit, my wife enjoyed the crabcakes, while I savored the Manti (Turkish dumplings). The service from chef-owner Sanjar Demirji and his entire crew was warmly welcoming and attentive. Portions were generous, especially as accompanied by complimentary bread to start and Turkish tea at the end. Other bonuses include a walk-up coffee, gelato, and sandwich area; breakfast (the hours are 8 AM till late evening); a full bar; and 15% off dinner prices at lunch. Try the pides (Turkish flatbread/pizza) and Simit (Turkish bagels)! Narman should quickly establish itself as a favorite neighborhood hangout.
