Fire Department: Small Fire at Ladray Hi-Rise

Fire fighters Wednesday afternoon extinguished a small fire at the Ladray Hi-Rise apartments housing many senior citizens, according to the Fire Department's spokesman.

Fire Department Marshal and Public Information Officer Bob Rodriguez characterized the fire at 300 Wythe St. as "small" and said the cause is under investigation.

Fire fighters initially requested a second alarm when they saw smoke at the site, Rodriguez said, but added that the situation was cleared quickly and there are no current traffic disruptions.

"The situation has been contained," he said.
