Founding Farmers Plans March Opening Of Alexandria Location

As part of the Oakville redevelopment in Alexandria, Founding Farmers is preparing to open its newest location.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Founding Farmers, the farmer-owned restaurant chain started in D.C., is almost ready to open its latest location in Alexandria.

The restaurant announced its Alexandria location at 461 Swann Avenue will open on March 12. It is located in a seven-story building as part of Stonebridge’s redevelopment of Oakville along Richmond Highway in Alexandria.

As part of the opening at 7 a.m., the first 100 guests who make a bakery purchase get the "Bake the Most of Your Morning" card for free coffee or tea for a year and an exclusive Founding Farmers tote bag.

Founding Farmers, which uses made-from-scratch ingredients in all of its food, will be open 365 days a year in Alexandria. The 9,200-square-foot space will have room for 245 people and include a full bar and patio area for outdoor dining.

"We’re excited to be bringing Founding Farmers to Alexandria with our farmer-owned ethos and flavors," said Dan Simons, Farmers Restaurant Group's co-owner. "Guests will find their favorites and be introduced to new innovations and explorations with food, beverage, and design. We’ll be offering the neighborhood breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch, along with our morning First Bake grab & go program for when you need something fast."

Founding Farmers has other locations in D.C.'s Foggy Bottom, Georgetown and Chinatown, as well as Tysons and Reston in Virginia, Potomac in Maryland and King of Prussia in Pennsylvania.

According to Founding Farmers, Farmers Restaurant Group's locations are built and operated sustainably. The Alexandria location showcases a design led by Lumber & Light, which designed several other Founding Farmers locations. Founding Farmers will pursue Green Restaurant Association certifications for the new location.
