Gov. McAuliffe Signs Extradition Order for 'Person of Interest' in Alexandria Killings

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe has signed an extradition order to return to the state Charles Severance, wanted for questioning in the high-profile killings of three people in Alexandria, according to The Washington Post.

Severance, 53, was arrested in Wheeling, W.Va., last week on a fugitive from justice warrant stemming from a weapons charge in Loudoun County and he has said that he will fight the extradition in the court in West Virginia.

Alexandria police are investigating Severance in the February slaying of music teacher Ruthanne Lodato, the November shooting of regional transportation planner Ronald Kirby and the 2003 killing of real estate agent Nancy Dunning. 

Severance’s attorney has argued his arrest is a “sham.”
