ALEXANDRIA, VA — After pushing back its closing several times, Italian favorite A La Lucia served its last pasta, pizza and glasses of wine in Old Town North.

New Year's Eve was the last day of business for the restaurant at 315 Madison Street, which had been open for decades.

A La Lucia is one of the restaurants impacted by redevelopment plans for the Montgomery Center, a block of business tenants. In 2023, developer Carr Companies received approval for a redevelopment of Montgomery Center into a mixed-use development with a multifamily residential building, an arts and culture anchor, ground floor retail and two public plazas.
