Alexandria-Area Girl Scouts Honored With Bronze Award
Girl Scout troop 60065 participated in multiple projects aimed at improving the Alexandria waterways and environment.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Local Girl Scout troop 60065 was honored Friday with the Girl Scout Bronze Award for their work to improve water quality in Alexandria.
The Bronze Award is the highest award for Girl Scout Juniors who are in fifth grade.
Over the course of this school year, the girls learned about the impact the community can have on Alexandria waterways.

Through the course of their research, the Girl Scouts visited Alexandria ReNew to learn about River ReNew, which aims to achieve cleaner, healthier, waterways in Alexandria and participated in multiple projects with the environment in mind.

Their Bronze Award project culminated with a community water clean-up at Lucky Run, located off of Braddock Rd, where they cleaned up more than 100 lbs of trash in the stream and surrounding area.

The Bronze Award was presented in a ceremony at Prince William Forest.
Members of the troop currently attend St. Stephens and St. Agnes School, Douglas MacArthur, and the Lab School.
