Victim in Fatal Shooting Had Alexandria Ties: Police
Officers have identified a man who was shot and killed Wednesday night in Alexandria as a man who had recently lived in California.
ALEXANDRIA, VA (UPDATE 4:10 p.m.) -- Alexandria Police have identified the victim in the fatal shooting Wednesday night in the City as Colby McClennon, 41.
McClennon had recently been living in San Diego, Calif. and has ties to Alexandria.
Officers responded at about 9:24 p.m. Wednesday to the 1200 block of Colonial Avenue (see map below) in Alexandria to investigate a "shots fired" call made to police. Officers located a man suffering from trauma to the upper body near Powhatan Park, police said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. Police withheld the victim's name pending notification of next of kin. Police are continuing to investigate the homicide.

This is the seventh homicide in Alexandria this year, police said.
