1. Inova at Landmark, a four-building medical campus, has entered the public approval process, and if approved, construction is expected to finish in the second quarter of 2028. The project, which takes up a fifth of the total land use on the 52-acre West End Alexandria development, includes a 565,000-square-foot hospital center, a 111,000-square-foot cancer center, an 83,000-square-foot specialty care center, and a retrofit of the mall’s old 550-space parking garage. Following approval by the Planning Commission, the City Council will hold its public hearing on the project on Saturday, Mar. 18. (Alexandria Now)
2. The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria's (AWLA) animal shelter hopes to find forever homes for their adoptable pets, like Rosie, a sociable and affectionate black cat, during the month of March. In addition, pet owners and their furry friends are invited to participate in the Fun Dog Show 2023 in Old Town, where they can dress up and enter costume contests to raise funds for the AWLA. The Ballyshaners are organizing their annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, which has become the largest one-day event in Old Town Alexandria, featuring pipe bands, Irish dance schools, and a variety of other performers.
