Metro Shutdowns To Affect Alexandria, Arlington Stations In 2026
Metro has plans for 10 weekends of shutdowns affecting several stations in Arlington and Alexandria.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The impact of Metro shutdowns may not be a distant memory for some Alexandria commuters, but they can expect more in 2026.
Metro announced its plans for upcoming shutdowns in late 2025 and 2026. That includes shutdowns between Pentagon City, Reagan National Airport and the Potomac Yard stations. Metro says they will be 10 weekend shutdowns in February, May and June 2026.
The National Airport and Crystal City stations will be closed during the weekend shutdowns. That means riders coming from Blue and Yellow Line stations to the south won't be able to continue Metrorail past Potomac Yard north toward Arlington and D.C. during the shutdowns. The same applies for Arlington and D.C. riders heading south beyond Pentagon City.
