Missing Man Found Dead In Wooded Area Of Alexandria Park: Police

Alexandria Police worked on a thorough search of the park during an investigation of the man's disappearance.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A missing man was found dead in an Alexandria park, according to police.

Hieu Ngo, 29, had been reported missing to Alexandria Police on Dec. 1 after he was last seen on Nov. 26. Detectives working closely with the family on the missing person investigation.

During the investigation, police obtained information indicating Ngo may have went into a secluded area near his home to self-harm. Alexandria Police worked to do a thorough search of Joseph Hensley Park with mutual aid from the Arlington County Police Department and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management.

Around 10 a.m. Thursday, Ngo was found dead in a wooded area of Joseph Hensley Park at 4200 Eisenhower Avenue near the Capital Beltway. Police do not initially believe the death is suspicious.

The medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

Police asked the community to give Ngo's family privacy.

"APD extends our deepest condolences to Mr. Ngo’s family and loved ones during this difficult time," police said in a statement. "We also thank the community members and partner agencies who supported efforts to locate him."
