New Space for Alexandria-Based National Science Foundation Sought: Report

ALEXANDRIA, VA — As plans to relocate the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to Alexandria will upend the National Science Foundation, a new report suggests a lead on a space for NSF.

The Washington Business Journal has suggested that available space within the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. USPTO had downsized its office space in 2024. Those plans aren't final, as the General Services Administration issued a pre-solicitation notice to find an occupancy for November. If NSF does move to USPTO's building, it would not only remain in Alexandria but within the same Carlyle neighborhood.
