New Restaurant Sets Opening Date at Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria
EatsPlace will open next week inside Alexandria's Torpedo Factory Art Center.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- EatsPlace Cafe and Market at the Torpedo Factory Art Center is set to open next week, on Thursday, Jan. 12, according to owner Katy Chang. The location is the second for EatsPlace. The first brick-and-mortar EatsPlace restaurant opened in 2014 in DC's Petworth/Park View neighborhood. The original location will continue to host pop-ups and guest chef residencies in its dining room, as well as cooking classes and local food purveyors.
The EatsPlace Cafe and Market at the Torpedo Factory Art Center will be a quick-serve concept of eclectic sandwiches with entree salads and soups. The casual spot's all-day menu will feature open-faced tarts as well as cheese and charcuterie. Catering will also be available. The cafe will serve beer and wine once they get their license. The cafe will also provide space for classes and demos.
Items on the menu will include fresh-roasted coffee from D.C.'s Qualia Coffee, nitro cold brew coffee, mushrooms and other produce from Good Sense Farms, chocolate and sweets from the likes of Harper Macaw, gluten-free baked goods from Bjorn's Bakes, and other makers from the DMV.

Founded in 1974 in an old munitions plant, the Torpedo Factory Art Center is home to the largest number of publicly accessible working artist studios in the United States. In an effort to sustain the arts in Alexandria, the Torpedo Factory is now part of the City of Alexandria’s Office of the Arts.
Just south of Washington, D.C., the Torpedo Factory Art Center overlooks the Potomac River in the Old Town section of Alexandria, Va. Each year, more than a half million national and international visitors meet and interact with more than 160 resident artists in 82 working studios and seven galleries.
The Torpedo Factory Art Center is also home to The Art League, the Alexandria Archaeology Museum, and now, soon, the EatsPlace Cafe and Market. For more information visit torpedofactory.org.
