- Alexandria local Col. Paris Davis was finally awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic efforts leading a Special Forces team during the Vietnam War nearly 60 years ago. Davis was initially recommended for the honor years ago, but the paperwork was lost twice. He was the first Black officer to lead a Special Forces unit into combat, and he was recognized for refusing to leave the battle before every member of his team was taken to safety. (WDBJ)
- Old Town Alexandria hosted its 40th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday during a bright and sunny afternoon. The parade makes its return after being shut down for two years during COVID. As part of the festivities, organizers also hosted a classic car show and a dog show. (WTOP)
