Old Town Alexandria Bank Robbery Suspect Identified, Charged

Alexandria Police say they've charged a suspect in an attempted bank robbery after an arrest in another jurisdiction.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A suspect has been identified and charged in an attempted bank robbery in Old Town Alexandria last week, according to police.

Police had responded around 9:25 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24 to a bank robbery at M&T Bank at 833 S. Washington Street. The suspect had entered the bank and demanded money but fled before obtaining cash.

Later that day, police in Prince George's County, Maryland arrested Jonathan Levar Robinson, 35, of no fixed address, for a bank robbery in that county.

An investigation by Alexandria Police led to charges for the Alexandria attempted bank robbery. Robinson was charged with attempted robbery by threat and wearing of masks or hoods to conceal identity.

He is being held in Prince George's County and will be extradited to Alexandria to face charges.
