Alexandria Boutique Changes Ownership After 13 Years
She's Unique, the Old Town jewelry boutique, has new owners after 13 years. Customers can say farewell to the store founder this weekend.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — She’s Unique, the Old Town Alexandria jewelry boutique known for its dainty, modern pieces and curated collections, has changed ownership after 13 years.
The shop has been at 205 King St. since 2012, housed in an historic “spite house” dating back to 1812. Founded by the mother-daughter duo, Katya and Sibila Ananieva, the boutique is bidding farewell to Sibila as she retires and Katya steps down as owner.
Longtime customers, best friends, and business partners of more than 20 years Bridget Nistico and Rosio Garcia have taken over the shop.

During the transition, Katya will be working in-store on select days: Friday, May 2, noon to 5 p.m.; Saturday, May 3, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Tuesday, May 6, noon to 5 p.m.
Nistico and Garcia collectively share more than 20 years of business experience and have deep roots in the local community, according to a news release. Nistico, a Northern Virginia native with connections in fashion retail, will be the store manager. Raised in Northern Virginia by an entrepreneurial Italian immigrant family, she built her career in luxury fashion.

Co-owner Garcia, a California-born entrepreneur and tastemaker, is the daughter of Mexican immigrant parents who built their own business. She launched her own company in 2007, Little Mexico &Lolita’s, whiche she led with vision and cultural alignment.
“Together, we’re excited to carry on the shop’s legacy while bringing in good energy, new ideas, and a modern vision — a perfect mix of the old and the new,” said Nistico in a statement. “Customers can expect the same welcoming atmosphere and carefully chosen pieces of independent designers from a range of jewelry offered in-store and online.”
“As She’s Unique enters its next chapter, I’m filled with gratitude for the incredible people who have helped shape its story,” said Katya, in a news release. “I’m especially thankful to my mother, Sibila, who has been my rock and constant source of encouragement from the very beginning. I’m so grateful to our loyal customers and community who’ve celebrated their most meaningful moments with us, and to our dedicated team, whose grace and hard work have been the heartbeat of this boutique.”
