Pizzeria Paradiso Returning To Alexandria As Pop-Up In Restaurant

Pizzeria Paradiso will be returning to Alexandria after its 2020 closure through a pop-up and a free pizza on launch day.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Pizzeria Paradiso may have closed its Alexandria location during the COVID-19 pandemic, but it will be back in another form.

The pizzeria announced it will have a pop-up at Hank’s Oyster Bar at 818 N St Asaph Street in Old Town North. During a launch event on March 8 (International Women's Day), the first 100 guests from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. will get a free mozzarella and tomato pizza.

The Pizzeria Paradiso pop-up at Hank’s Oyster Bar will run Thursdays and Fridays from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. starting on March 13. Pickup and delivery service will be offered at the pop-up, and dine-in service will not be available.

As part of the collaboration with Hank's Oyster Bar, Chef Ruth Gresser of Pizzeria Paradiso and Chef Jamie Leeds of Hank’s Oyster Bar created a seafood pizza. The restauranteurs created the Pizzeria Paradiso x Hank’s Oyster Bar collab pizza with Béchamel sauce, spicy garlic pesto, clams, bacon, roasted potatoes, onions, grana Padano cheese, lobster, scallops, shrimp, and parsley.

Gresser had operated the Old Town Alexandria location from 2010 to fall 2020. Pizzeria Paradiso has locations in DC's Georgetown, Dupont Circle and Spring Valley as well as Hyattsville, Maryland.

In light of federal worker job losses, Pizzeria Paradiso is offering free lunches to current and newly-unemployed federal workers Mondays from noon to 4 p.m. at the DC locations and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. for dinner at the Hyattsville location. The free meal includes a pizza with a soda or draft beer. Current federal employees can show their ID, and unemployed workers can let the restaurant know.
