Poet Laureate Calls for Poems, Artwork

Alexandria residents are invited to submit poems and artwork about their city.

Do you have a sonnet in your soul about King Street? A haiku about Henry Street? Alexandria's poet laureate is calling for residents to submit poems and artwork for the MAPP, or Mapping Alexandria in Poems and Pictures, project.

City residents are invited to send in poems and artwork about the streets they live on and use every day. These street portraits will be collected on the city’s website in the hope of creating an interactive map of Alexandria.

There will be a reading of MAPP poems and a display of artwork at the Athenaeum April 25, 6:30 p.m. This will be the culminating event for National Poetry Month.
