ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Looking to beat the traffic tie-ups during the presidential inauguration next week? You can cruise in to the capital for Inauguration Day on Potomac Riverboat Company’s special water taxi service from Alexandria’s waterfront in Old Town directly into the Southwest Waterfront in Washington, D.C. on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017 for $40 per person roundtrip.

From the Southwest Waterfront it is about a 10-minute walk to the U.S. Capitol. Visitors can take advantage of 11 departure times from Alexandria beginning at 6:30 a.m. and ending at 6:45 p.m. Passengers will enjoy a heated, 45-minute ride on the Potomac River complete with views of the monuments. The last boat departs D.C. at 7:30 p.m.
