Second Voting Site Open For Primary Election In Alexandria
An additional early voting site will open ahead of the June 17 primary election in Alexandria.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Another location will join the Alexandria Office of Voter Registration & Elections Friday as an early voting site in the June 17 primary election.
The primary will be a Democratic race to determine nominees for lieutenant governor and attorney general. Democratic and Republican nominees for governor are already set — Democrat former Rep. Abigail Spanberger and Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears. Republican nominees for lieutenant governor and attorney general are set — John Reid and incumbent Jason Miyares, respectively.
Democratic candidates for lieutenant governor are Levar Stoney, Babur Lateef, Aaron R. Rouse, Victor Salgado, Ghazala Hashmi and Alexander Bastani. Attorney general candidates are Shannon Taylor and Jay Jones.

All registered voters can vote in the primary election, as Virginia does not register voters by party.
Early voting opened on May 2 at the Alexandria Office of Voter Registration & Elections. Starting on Friday, June 6, the Charles E. Beatley, Jr. Central Library at 5005 Duke St. will become an early voting site. An acceptable form of ID is required to vote in person.

The deadline for in-person early voting is 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 14. 5 p.m. on June 6 marks the deadline to request a mail-in ballot. Completed ballots must be returned to the Alexandria Office of Voter Registration & Elections by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, or postmarked by June 17 and received in the office by noon on Friday, June 20. Voters can apply through the Virginia Department of Elections website or download a paper application and return it by mail (132 North Royal St., Suite 100, Alexandria, VA. 22314), fax (703-746-4540) or scanned email attachment (VoteAbsentee@alexandriava.gov).
Completed ballots may be returned by mail or drop box. Ballot drop boxes will be available to return completed ballots at all polling places from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on June 17. A secure outdoor drop box with video surveillance, is available 24/7 in front of the Office of Voter Registration & Elections through 7 p.m. on June 17.
To vote on the primary election day, head to your assigned polling place from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17. Check your registration status and polling place on the Virginia Department of Elections citizen portal. Voters need an acceptable form of ID to vote in person.
The deadline for voter registration or updating your address was May 27, but same-day registration is available. Same-day registered voters through the election day will cast a provisional ballot.
