Red Barn Mercantile Plans For Busy Holiday Unveiling Event In November

ALEXANDRIA, VA — One of Old Town Alexandria's boutiques is getting in the holiday spirit early with its returning holiday display in early November.

Red Barn Mercantile (1117 King St.) will host its 17th annual Holiday Unveiling to kick off the holiday shopping season, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Nov. 6. Decorations and discounts will also be in place at sister stores Penny Post (1201 King St.) and Pippin Toy Co. (1310 King St.).

"We can't wait to share the magic of the season with our community," said Amy Rutherford, owner of Red Barn Mercantile, Penny Post and Pippin Toy Co. "This is our favorite night of the year, and we are so excited to show off what we created this year. It is something truly special."

At Red Barn Mercantile's Holiday Unveiling, customers will enter a winter wonderland filled with 11 Christmas trees decorated with ornaments, as well as holiday décor, unique gift items for holiday shopping and complimentary refreshments. Customers can enjoy a grazing board from Vintage Views and sweet treats from pastry chef and flower farmer Alex Mudry-Till of Quince Blossom Ridge. Each attendee will receive a special custom party favor from local lettering artist Michele Hatty Fritz of Meant To Be Calligraphy.

Shoppers will receive discounts of 15 to 30 percent off throughout the event, but some exclusions will apply. Guests who cannot attend in person can see Red Barn Mercantile's holiday collection be unveiled on its website. Online shoppers will get the same discounts as the in-person attendees.

Red Barn Mercantile says the event is its busiest of the year, so expect crowds and busy checkout lines. The boutique has a blog post for shoppers to plan for its Holiday Unveiling event.
