School Threats 'Unfounded' At Alexandria High School Campuses, Security Status Lifted
Alexandria's two public high school campuses were impacted by a school threat investigation Monday.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Threats against Alexandria's high school campuses were determined to be "unfounded" Monday morning, according to school officials.
Executive Principal Alexander Duncan told families in a message that a threat was reported to Alexandria City High School's King Street and Minnie Howard campuses. Around 10:05 a.m., the campuses were put on a hold status, which means movement inside classrooms and hallways were restricted for security seasons.
Alexandria Police responded and completed a threat assessment with high school administration. No credible threat was found, and the normal school day has resumed.

"We appreciate the quick response of the APD, Duncan shared. "Out of an abundance of caution, APD will remain on site throughout the day to maintain a police presence in an effort to make students and staff feel safe. The safety of our students and staff are of utmost priority."
The security investigation prompted a temporary change to the school day until the hold status was lifted. The school may adjust lunch to ensure all students can eat after the hold status was lifted.
