Additional In-Person Early Voting Site Opens At Beatley Library In Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, VA — An additional in-person early voting site for Virginia's general election in November opened in the City of Alexandria on Friday and will remain open through Oct. 30. Virginia voters do not need an excuse to vote early due to 2020 state legislation.

The Tuesday, Nov. 2 ballot includes local elections for Alexandria mayor, City Council, sheriff, Alexandria School Board, and Commonwealth's Attorney. Statewide elections include governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general and House of Delegates.

Early voting kicked off Sept. 17 at Alexandria's Office of Voter Registration & Elections at 132 N. Royal St., Suite 100. On Friday, the city opened a second in-person early voting site at the Charles E. Beatley Jr. Central Library at 5005 Duke St.

The in-person voting hours at the Charles E. Beatley Library site are:

  • Friday, Oct. 22, 1 p.m.–5 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 23, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 24, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
  • Monday, Oct. 25, 1 p.m.–8 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1 p.m.–8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1 p.m.–8 p.m.
  • Thursday, Oct. 28, 1 p.m.–8 p.m.
  • Friday, Oct. 29, 1 p.m.–5 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 30, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

An acceptable form of ID is required to vote in person, but it is no longer required to be a photo ID. Examples of accepted ID include a Virginia driver's license, DMV-issued ID, U.S. passport, current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck and more.

On Nov. 2, Election Day, voting hours at the city's voting precincts are from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Voters who requested a ballot by mail may drop off their ballots at all polling places on Nov. 2 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. A secure 24/7 drop box outside the Office of Voter Registration & Elections is available now through 7 p.m. on Nov. 2. A drop box is also available during in-person voting hours at Beatley Library.

What's On The Ballot

All ballots will contain races for Alexandria mayor, City Council, sheriff, Alexandria School Board and Commonwealth's Attorney as well as Virginia governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general. The Virginia House of Delegates race will depend on which district you live in. There are sample ballots for House of Delegates District 45 and School Board District A, House of Delegates District 45 and School Board District B, House of Delegates District 46 and School Board District B and House of Delegates District 46 and School Board District C.
