Signs Point to Sweetgreen Opening Soon in Old Town Alexandria
Bittersweet Catering & Bakery continues, with its location just behind its previous location.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Signs are pointing to an opening soon for Sweetgreen in Old Town Alexandria. The new restaurant, a fast-casual seasonal salad restaurant founded by three friends in Georgetown nine years ago, will open at 823 King St., where Bittersweet Cafe was previously located.
Sweetgreen recently posted hiring ads online seeking employees for the Old Town Alexandria location.
Bittersweet Catering & Bakery continues, with its location just behind its previous location, at 103 1/2 N. Alfred St. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Founded in 2007, Sweetgreen describes itself as a destination for “fun, delicious food that’s both healthy for you and aligned with your values,” the company says. “We source local and organic ingredients from farmers we know and partners we trust, supporting our communities and creating meaningful relationships with those around us. Sweetgreen opened a new location recently in Arlington’s Crystal City neighborhood with a fundraiser for Freshfarm Markets. It’s other locations in Virginia include Reston, McLean, Ballston, Clarendon, Merrifield in the Mosaic District and at Tysons Galleria. Another restaurant will be opening soon at Pentagon City, according to the company.

According to the company Web site, there are currently about 40 Sweetgreen locations nationwide.
