Steve Scalise's Condition Upgraded From Critical To Serious
Doctors said the Louisiana congressman was more responsive and is speaking with his loved ones.

Congressman's Steve Scalise's condition has been changed from critical to serious after he was shot in the lift hip by a gunman who apparently targeted Republicans at a baseball practice in Alexandria on Wednesday.
Doctors at MedStar Washington, where Scalise is being treated, provided on update on the Louisiana Representative's condition Saturday, saying his condition was now serious. Scalise underwent another surgery on Saturday and he continues to show signs of improvement, the hospital said in a statement.

Scalise was one of five people shot by the gunman, identified as James Hodgkinson, of Illinois. He suffered a gunshot wound to his left hip. The bullet traveled directly across the other hip, in what doctors call a trans pelvic gunshot wound.
On Saturday, Scalise's team tweeted that the congressman was watching LSU baseball.

Two police officers, a congressional aide and a lobbyist for Tyson Foods were also injured in the shooting.
After the gunman fired off dozens of shots, the Capitol Police began firing at the gunman. Hodgkinson later died due to his injuries. Hodgkinson reportedly posted anti-Trump messages on Facebook and he apparently targeted Republican lawmakers in the shooting.
