'The Old Boreen' By Accordionist Miles Hoyle On King Street

You'll be fortunate one night, strolling around the 200 block of King St. with your mates, to run into accordionist Miles Hoyle. He plays there four nights a week.

"I feel like the accordion is my true calling, because it's how I met my fiancé and one of the full members of my band, which started the full lineup of my band," said Hoyle to Patch.

Hoyle, 25, moved to Alexandria from Chesapeake a year-and-a-half ago when his fiancé got a job in the area. He works retail during the day and plays weddings, bars, restaurants and street corners. Once a week he travels to Norfolk to practice with his gypsy rock band "Reckless Passenger".

Hoyle, a lifelong guitarist, picked up his first accordion five years ago.

"It changed my life," he said.

Hoyle's Selections
-'When Irish Eyes are Smiling'
-'Whisky, Your'e the Devil'
-'Can't Help Falling in Love With You'
-'Blue Suede Shoes'
