Traffic Advisories: George Washington Parkway, More

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Here's a look at some lane closures starting Friday that could impact your commute, according to the National Park Service:

George Washington Memorial Parkway around airport

• On Friday, April 1 at 11:59 p.m., the southbound GW Parkway ramp entering the airport on the south side will be closed for milling and paving. Expect the ramp closure to last until Monday, April 4, at 4 a.m. Detour signs will be posted. (Southbound GW Parkway NORTH entrance into airport will remain OPEN).
• From Monday, April 4 - Friday, April 8, expect intermittent single-lane closures on both eastbound and westbound lanes of Route 233, Airport Access Road, for deck repairs between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
• On Friday, April 8 at 11:59 p.m., the south exits ramps from the airport to both northbound and southbound GW Parkway will be closed for milling and paving. Expect the ramp closure to last until Monday, April 11, at 4 a.m. Detour signs will be posted.

Arlington Memorial Bridge

• From Monday, April 4 - Friday, April 8, expect a 24/7, single-lane closure in the westbound direction for construction equipment, and a double-lane closure between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Expect minor delays.
• On Monday, April 4, a 24/7 single, right lane closure will begin in the eastbound direction for construction equipment, and will remain in place until the project is complete in May.
• The sidewalks on both sides of the bridge will be open at all times, however they will be narrowed in work areas between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

GW Parkway

• From Monday, April 4 - Friday, April 8, expect intermittent single-lane closures on both northbound and southbound lanes for pothole repairs between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Expect delays. This work is weather dependent.

GW Parkway at Glebe Road Overpass

• On Saturday, April 2, expect single-lane closures on both northbound and southbound lanes for emergency repairs on bridge joints between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. Expect delays. This work is weather dependent.

Mount Vernon Trail

• The Mount Vernon Trail will be closed between Canal Place in northern Old Town Alexandria and Daingerfield Island from from Monday, April 11 - Friday, April 15. The trail will also be closed Monday, April 18 between 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Detour signs will be posted and maintained to help trail users navigate around the closed trail section. This closure is necessary to protect visitor safety during work associated with the Potomac River Power Station.
