Viral Food Truck Plans To Open NoVA Brick-And-Mortar Restaurant Site
A food truck that has gone viral for its bring-your-own chips walking taco and other specialties is planning a permanent location.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — A food truck that has gained a significant social media following is planning a brick-and-mortar location in Alexandria.
Flavor Hive has applied for a special use permit at 3314 Richmond Highway, which is across from the Potomac Yard Shopping Center. The application to the city describes Flavor Hive as a "fast-casual restaurant with Asian foods with a Spanish and American influence.
Flavor Hive has gained a notable amount of social media followers — more than 1 million each on Instagram and TikTok.

The business is known for its walking taco special, where customers will bring their own bag of chips. The food truck will fill it up with halal meat and other fillings starting at $10. Other menu items include a rice bowl, quesadilla, pita pouch, loaded fries and more.
According to Alexandria Living Magazine, Flavor Hive is the brainchild of Shihan Chowdhury and Amgd Gende. Flavor Hive currently operates out of food trucks in Annandale (4260 John Marr Drive) and Alexandria (5249 Duke Street). A food truck is running at the Annandale location, while a brick-and-mortar location is being prepared at the address.

The special use permit plans for Alexandria show plans for 20 outdoor seats and several indoor dining tables. The restaurant would operate with takeout service. Proposed hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays to Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Fridays to Saturdays.
According to the application, Chowdhury and Gende would own 25 percent each of the Alexandria brick-and-mortar location, and Michael & Son owner Basim Mansour owns 50 percent. Public comments on the Flavor Hive location at 3314 Richmond Highway are being accepted until June 19.
