Looking for a place to dine on the waterfront with a clear view of the monuments? There's a new place open, and it's even closer to D.C. than the Old Town waterfront. At the Washington Sailing Marina, what used to be the Indigo Landing restaurant is now Triple Craft. The marina is part of Daingerfield Island, which is considered the earliest permanent settlement of Alexandria.

Bears Sightings In Centreville Prompt Warning

Two bear sightings have been reported in the past week, according to Fairfax County Police. The first was last weekend in the Birch Pond Community near Rocky Run Stream Valley Park. Another was reported at nearby Ellanor C. Lawrence Park, in which a bear damaged a beehive. As such, Fairfax County Police have issued some reminders about bears and how the public should deal with them. Namely, remember that bears — who typically avoid humans — are attracted by bird feeders, garbage, outdoor pet food, compost piles, fruit trees and shrubs with berries.

Ugly Racist Incident In Reston Town Center Caught On Video

Video of an anti-Muslim tirade at a Reston Trader Joe's went viral earlier this month, but it's not the only disturbing racial incident to happen in the area this spring. A video on YouTube that was posted in March shows a man screaming at an Asian-American man to go back to his country and threatening violence against him in the heart of Reston Town Center. The video, which is embedded below, was uploaded on March 2 by YouTube user MrJon703. He does not identify himself in the video.

Richmond's Monument Avenue: Should Confederate Statues Remain?

Another Memorial Day is upon us, when we honor those who fought and gave their lives in service to the United States of America. But what to make of those who fought and gave their lives in service to the Confederate States of America? After all, no matter how you look at it, they fought against the United State. Over the past several years petitions, protests and an all-around hard look at various Confederate monuments and statues have prompted the removal of such things across the country, most recently in New Orleans.

Bee Swarm 'Size Of A Small Child' Neutralized In Stafford

Nearly 40,000 bees reported to be "a swarm. . .the size of a small child" were relocated into beekeeper's boxes last Wednesday night in a tree on James Madison Circle, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. The swarm was approximately three feet tall and more than two feet wide. Shortly after 6:30 p.m., an animal control officer, Anthony McCall, responded to the scene to see if he could be of assistance — this despite the fact that he's no real fan of bees.
