Water Main Upgrade Begins in Old Town

One lane of Henry Street will be closed during work hours and some residents of the area may see a temporary interruption in water service.

Virginia American Water this week is beginning a $1.4 million water main upgrade on Henry Street designed to improve water quality, service reliability and increase flows for fire protection.

Virginia American Water will replace approximately 4,000 feet of four-, six- and eight-inch pipeline along Henry Street, from Duke Street to Madison Street, with new 12-inch water main. The project will be completed in one-block phases starting at Duke Street and progressing north.
